I have been trying to keep up with the writers strike by following the tweets on twitter and the bloglinks. The writers for the LateShow with Jay Leno and Jon Stewart have started videoblogging recording their own messages in the familiar tone of the shows they write for. They are the shows.
After watching the edited and non edited bits it is fairly clear that on their own and with the available technology they could make their own web based shows very easily and quickly have large followings.
Pay check ? It is concievable that some of these guys posting a video on REVVER could make them 5 and 6 figures $$$ just by being watched.
Many people are unaware, posting their videos on YouTube offers no payment for providing popular content drawing people to their site. Now post the same video on REVVER or other similar services and they pop cash in you PayPal account everytime someone clicks on your video.
I heard that a local Torontonian, a student at Sheridan, made a cool $20,000 by posting a video of himself doing some gymnastic tricks.
Provide some better editing and a functional blog site and you got your own show, distribution network, viewers that you can track, metrics, and a few areas on your page for tasteful advertising. Not only that but people can consume your media on iPhones, and other portable media devices.
